Hope you don't mind if I share a bit of my week

Hi girls!
As said in the title I hope you don't mind if I share few recent things with you. It's been a strange week, few things happened that had different effects on me.. be patient with my ramblings, please!

First of all I did an exam on Thursday, it was about marketing, that's one of my favourite subjects.
I had to do this test with the silliest of the methods: the teacher dictated to us the first question and we had 20 minutes to answer, then she'd dictate the second and give us 20 minutes to answer and then the third and after 20 minutes we had to hand our test in. Crazy! Also because they are very generic question, like "discuss the packaging theme" (.. err WTH!!) and at the end you don't even have the time to re-read what you wrote.
Anyway I did it and after my 20 minutes ride by train to go back home I met with a friend (Alice) to make some grocery shopping. We both love Asian food, so, since she works close to my place, we met once a week to have lunch together. Look :D

There are ramen packages, Ravioli, spring rolls and chips. Yum!!

The following day then I had a very nice surprise: my mum works in a school that has fashion classes and they're doing stocktaking. Apparently they had to threw away stuff that is in very good condition, so she brought me a tailor's dummy.. aaah I'm so happy!! She brought me some books too that teachers use during classes and they're simply amazing, all those fascinating drawings of dresses and clothes.. I'd take some pictures to show you. I can barely hide the excitement!

Oh I need a name for this lady now, any suggestions?

It's like a source of inspiration, like I need to use it! I already have few ideas: a summer pyjamas from old bad sheets, a lace vest and few reconstruction.. I'll post some pics when I'm done and I really can't wait to get to work! Also because.. I was about to spend some money on a website to buy me few summer things, but the shipping costs were too much and I decided that I'd try to make them myself. Mh! I think I'm putting myself into something too big for me, but I'll try anyway!

Sorry for the rant girls, but I really need to share this with someone :D (my friends aren't interested in sewing *sulks*).
Have a nice week end everyone! Do you have any plans?

  1. Hi Lima,

When will you get the results for your exam? I hope you did well [I'll bet you did!]

That would be hard to have such generic questions to answer ... that's not for me, I would want an exact question that has an exact answer to it. : )

I would say that the food looks good but for right now, I can't say that because I pigged out tonight and NO food looks good to me right now. lol

My friends come over - Randy was my neighbor for 10 years at another apartment here in town and Jake, he's just a bit younger than my kids and is like one of my own kids. All three of us have been good friends for many years.

Anyways, it was Jake's birthday earlier this month so I had them come over and we were gonna have a spaghetti supper but instead we ended up getting pizza, ice cream and cupcakes. And, I was a little piggy. :-( Sure can't lose weight this way!

That is so cool that you got the dummy [oh did that ever sound funny. ha! ha!] Well, you know what I mean. I think you'll do fine with making the clothes, I sure wish I knew how to sew. I did it in high school but not since then and that was many, many years ago.

What to name her? I have no idea why but the name Millie come to mind. WHERE it come from, I have no clue. lol I'm sure someone can come up with something better than that though. : )

As for plans for the weekend, my brothers ex-wife and I are going to Seneca, Pennsylvania tomorrow which is about 25 miles or so from where I live at.

There are a few stores there that we both like to go in and I hope to find some small scrapbooking things [like cheap things!]

Also, with the economy the way it is, I want to stock up on some plastic canvas so that I can have it to work on crosses and other things. That way if something were to happen, I would be prepared some.

Gonna go, sorry I write so much like I do - I hate to take things over by talking so much but wow, am I ever good at it, huh? ha! ha!

    (Hugs)

    Love,

    Deb

  2. So cool Lima!!!

I love when I'm given the opportunity to do something awesome and creative. Like when I find stuff at the thrift stores. Your dummy is great! I'll have to think of a good name for you. Another suggestion of something to make is a kitchen apron. I have a really pretty one that a friend bought me. Sort of a vintage feel to it. But it inspired me to make my own for my sister in law and I ended up making her one like a wonder woman costume for christmas. She loved it! You'll have so much fun sewing. I can't wait to see your creations!

Keep sharing daily news here. I love this! I hope your exam turns out great. I know it will!

    Love,
    Becca

  3. @ Debi: nope, no results yet and it made me quite nervous xD

I hope you had fun with Randy and Jake. Pizza, ice cream and cupcakes: YES!! This is a meal >:D

Millie is not bad. I had something more exotic in mind but I'll consider your suggestion, thanks :D

How was your shopping in Seneca? Hope you found somethings useful for your crafts!

And don't worry about writing too much, I like talkative perople since I so am not xD

@ Becca: Aaah I rally envy your thrift stores. Here there aren't this kind of shops D: We have the street markets but sometimes the stuff is not cheaper.
Oh I'd think about making a cute apron (for my mum also). I'll do some research to find pretty patterns!

Thanks, I hope they'll turn out great too, it'd suck to do them again xD
